Smart home protocollen
Smart home protocollen maken jouw slimme apparaten slim. Deze communicatieprotocollen zijn de regels die apparaten gebruiken om met elkaar te communiceren. Het protocol vertelt de apparaten welke taal ze moeten spreken om begrepen te worden. Zonder het juiste protocol kan een slim apparaat niet praten met andere apparaten. Er zijn verschillende soorten protocollen voor domotica. Al deze protocollen hebben hun eigen voor- en nadelen. Zo zijn Zigbee en Z-Wave speciaal ontwikkeld voor smart home. Matter biedt een oplossing om verschillende slimme apparaten zonder problemen met elkaar te laten samenwerken. Thread werkt naadloos samen met Matter, waardoor je helemaal klaar bent voor de toekomst. Wifi is ideaal voor het versturen van veel data, bijvoorbeeld voor slimme deurbellen, door de hogere snelheden en meer bandbreedte dan bij andere protocollen. Bluetooth LE biedt juist een betrouwbare en energiezuinige manier voor het versturen van kleine hoeveelheden data op korte afstanden.
Voor het aansturen van jouw slimme huis heb je een smart home platform nodig. Zo’n platform verbindt al je slimme apparaten, zodat je ze allemaal kunt bedienen met één app op je smartphone of tablet. Ook kunnen apparaten met verschillende protocollen met elkaar communiceren als beide protocollen door het platform en je hub ondersteund worden.
